Super Hero Summer 2018

Super Hero Summer is a joint effort between Calvary Episcopal Church and the Front Royal Presbyterian Church to reach out to at-risk and low-income youth in Warren County when summer learning loss is at its' greatest.  Throughout the week, 26 youth were fed breakfast and lunch and each day they were sent home with food to combat the hunger insecurities they fact everyday.

During our time together each day we joined in fellowship and fun with Minute to Win It games, dancing and

recreation.

To fight the summer learning loss, there was dedicated time for reading help that included writing their own stories, sending letters home to mom and dad, taking books home everyday for reading and sharing their reading skills with the Wonder Dogs.

In addition, a dedicated team of volunteers led a STEM (science, technology, engineering and math) class that took our kids on a Mission to Mars.

Finally, each day a different community volunteer came in to speak with the kids to show the kids who our everyday Super Heroes are in Warren County.  A shout out to the Fire Department, Sheriff's Department, Dentist and Doctor's offices for their help.

A Special Shout Out to our Sponsors!  Without them, our week couldn't have been possible.
