  • Discover - Offering federal workers with Discover Bank cards or loans special assistance such as skipping a payment or having charges reversed. Call 800-347-2683 to request assistance.
  • Wells Fargo - Says they will work with those whose income is disrupted as a part of the shutdown. Call 1-800-TO-WELLS for assistance.
  • Bank of America - Personalized financial assistance offered through the Client Assistance Program. Call 844-219-0690 for assistance.
  • Capital One Bank - Call or visit locations in your area for assistance.
  • ATT - Flexible payment options available to customers affected by the shutdown.
  • Verizon - Flexible payment options available to those affected by the shutdown. The Promise to Pay program allows customers to set a future date for payment. You can sign up using the Verizon app or by calling 1-866-266-1445.
  • Dominion Energy has options for energy assistance, including budget billing and programs offered through the Virginia Department of Social Services. Customers can call 866-366-4357.
  • T-Mobile: Short-term account assistance including payment deferral is being offered. Call 877-746-0909.
  • Navy Federal Credit Union will cover pay for its eligible members via interest-free loans up to $6,000.
  • Pentagon Federal Credit Union is offering the possibility to skip a payment, direct deposit assistance and a furlough loan product.
  • The United Methodist Credit Union is offering 0% APR loans for those affected by the government shutdown. Employees that may need paycheck replacement during the current shutdown should contact TUMCU at 866-657-0004 for details.
  • Columbia Gas of Virginia 1-800-272-2714 Customers impacted by the federal government shutdown could be eligible for payment assistance from Columbia Gas of Virginia.   • BB&T Mortgage: BB&T Home Mortgage is committed to supporting clients through every phase of their loan’s lifecycle. We recognize that clients in many of our markets may be adversely impacted by the current Federal Government shutdown.  In light of this, we are offering a 90-day forbearance to borrowers who have been impacted and are seeking payment assistance. When the government shutdown has been resolved, we will work with impacted borrowers to resolve the forbearance and return their loan to current status.  The attached information provides the numbers that borrowers can call to request this assistance.

  • Alamo Drafthouse Cinema offering federal employees free movies throughout the month of January to “help cure the Government Shutdown blues,” The free tickets are available Mondays through Thursdays for federal employees when they present a federal ID at the box office.

  • Schenk’s is offering free milk, eggs and toilet paper with purchase and government ID till the end of January

  • Apple House is offering government employees and spouses a free breakfast and drink with government ID

  • LFCC is offering free classes/professional development for furloughed federal employees to increase/change job skills.
